Which rod straightening machine do you need?
Wire rod is usually supplied in coils, which leaves residual curvature in the material. The straightening machine removes that curvature before the part moves on to cutting, bending or welding, leaving the material straight and within dimensional tolerance.
Why it’s the first station in the line
If the rod isn’t straightened correctly, any later operation carries the error forward: a bend on curved material won’t produce the programmed geometry. That’s why the straightening machine is often integrated with trimming to length or with the feed of the bending machine.
Diameter and line speed
The selection criteria are the rod or wire diameter you process, the required cut length, and the line speed it must sustain. A straightening machine slower than the next station becomes the bottleneck of the whole process, however fast the rest of the machines are.
Compact or standalone equipment
In medium-volume workshops it’s common to find the straightening machine integrated with the bending machine in a single compact unit. In high-volume production, a standalone station sized for the line’s real speed usually works better, avoiding the compact unit falling short of capacity as production grows.
